India – Haryana extends deadline for new leather cluster

Written by admin

The authorities in the Indian state of Haryana have extended the deadline for applications for a new leather cluster. They have given manufacturers of footwear, footwear components, leathergoods, gloves, leather garments and saddlery products until March 28 to submit a formal request for a plot at the new leather industry cluster at Sohna.

Sohna leather cluster will cover just over 40 hectares in area and will house finished product manufacturers; no tanners will be part of the project.

India’s Council for Leather Exports has been lobbying the Haryana authorities to lower the price of plots at the new cluster, arguing that most of the finished product manufacturers they are targeting for the Sohna project are small or medium-sized enterprises..
